A response to the Ellsworth Kelly Room at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, this series served as an attempt to refashion and reassess components from previous installations while simultaneously initiating the practice of painting onto various articles of clothing. A central tension between image and object is driven through techniques such as the use of a disc sander to abrade collaged paper remnants and the use of graphite to accentuate the glue residue left by the artist's hands. These works interrogate material agency, incorporating cast-off bits of other paintings into various compositions. The series also foreshadows Vertical Blind, a large-scale painting installation later commissioned by the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft in Louisville.
